Chicago Cubs pitcher Edwin Jackson has been a mainstay on several MLB teams since making his big league debut in 2003. He’s also enjoyed quite a bit of success. In 2009 he earned his first All-Star appearance while pitching for the Detroit Tigers and in 2010 he threw his first no-hitter against the Tampa Bay Rays. He’s even enjoyed being a part of several successful teams, including the 2011 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.
With so much success at the big league level, Jackson has acquired quite a bit of knowledge that he enjoys sharing with the upcoming generation of ballplayers at his free annual baseball camp at Fort Benning. This Saturday, November 15, Jackson will be joined by youngsters and their families at the Youth Sports Complex on Fort Benning for a fun and entertaining baseball camp. From 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Jackson will lead the campers in drills and will also be speaking to the kids about the game and his career.
This is Jackson’s sixth time returning to Fort Benning to host the free camp, and each year he seems to enjoy himself more and more. Having grown up as an Army brat on Fort Benning, Jackson has an appreciation for the sacrifices the military members and their families make on behalf of our country, and enjoys giving back each year.
