Dave DoerenN.C. State Football Coach Dave Doeren has been announced as the featured speaker for the 2017 Gaston County Sports Hall of Fame banquet that is happening on June 12 at the Gastonia Conference Center. Tickets to attend the event will go on sale beginning on April 26 and will cost $35 while they are still available. They will be sold at a variety of locations including: Gastonia’s BB&T, Dallas’ Penley & Associates and Belmont’s Gaston County Travel & Tourism Center, Gastonia’s Essic Sport Shop, and Cherryville’s Rocky Bennett Insurance. It should be an exciting evening and a very memorable one for everyone who chooses to attend.

The Shawnee, Kansas native began his coaching career at Shawnee Mission Northwest High School where he was the wide receivers and defensive line coach. Later on he ended up working as the linebackers coach and defensive coordinator for the Drake Bulldogs and eventually became a graduate assistant coach for the USC Trojans. Other places that Doeren served as coach include the University of Montana, University of Kansas, University of Wisconsin, University of Northern Illinois and his current position with North Carolina State University. In 2011, Doeren led the Huskies to a Mid-American Conference Championship and a qin in the GoDaddy.com Bowl during his first year of coaching Northern Illinois.

Doeren has been announced as the featured speaker for this year’s 2017 Gaston County Sports Hall of Fame banquet that is set to occur on June 12th in the Gastonia Conference Center. It is going to be a fun time and an exceptionally memorable event for all the football fans who plan on attending.
