NASCAR driver Justin Allgaier spoke at the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame Banquet at the Crowne Plaza on April 28. A crowd of over 700 people were expected, and tickets were not available at the door so that almost guarantees a full house. The 28 year old driver will be there to watch this year’s inductees, and will share of his wisdom and stories from his professional racing experiences and engage with the sports fan in the audience. Aside from that, this year the Lincoln Land’s 2000 National Junior College Athletic Association World Series Champions were honored and inducted into the Springfield Hall of Fame this year.
The Illinois native is the 2008 ARCA Re/Max Series Champion and currently has three wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and one Top Ten in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Allgaier has been racing since the young age of 13 and continues to get better each year. He had a horrible start in 2015 with a crash in the Daytona 500 but made an excellent comeback just a few weeks later in Phoenix by getting into the Top Ten.
He gave an energetic and moving speech at the 2015 Springfield Sports Hall of Fame in late April. Since he is still current with the sport, it was an extra special event for all of the racing and NASCAR fans out there.
