Former NFL tight end Nate Jackson was a keynote speaker for the Southwest Cannabis Convention that took place during the end of October in Phoenix, Arizona. He was there alongside some of his fellow former NFL friends like Ricky Williams and Eben Britton who had formed the Gridiron Cannabis Coalition after they had left their careers behind them. The convention was designed to educate people on the health benefits of marijuana use and to discuss what prospects there are that could possibly create business opportunities. Jackson was happy to speak at the Arizona event and shared some of his experiences using the plant as well as comparing the NFL’s restrictions to it to the military, saying that these organizations don’t want to give people the choice whether to use or not,
The San Jose, California native went to Menlo College between the years of 1999-2001 to play football after graduating from Pioneer High School. He was a key component to getting Menlo College some attention and recognition for their sports programs, as he set many records on the team as a wide receiver. Jackson was not drafted in the 2002 NFL Draft and signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent, but only remained on their practice squad that season. He was traded to the Denver Broncos where he got to play for five seasons, before ending his career with a year on the Cleveland Browns’ and the Las Vegas Locomotives’ practice teams. For putting Menlo College on the map in the sports world he was entered into their Hall of Fame in 2009.
Jackson spoke out and showed his support for legalizing marijuana in the United States and described all of the benefits that it was able to provide him once he ended his football career. He and three other friends who are all ex-football players gave a great keynote speech at the end of the Southwest Cannabis Convention that happened in Phoenix last month.
