NBA analyst and former NBA player Charles Barkley was the keynote speaker at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill’s Sixth Annual Sports Awards Dinner that happened on September 26. The event was hosted by the NFI and the Ravitz Family Foundation and tickets sold for $100 per person to attend. It all began at 5:45 p.m. that Monday, and since Barkley is such a huge sports icon in the professional basketball world, it was able to draw in a lot of people to attend and make some charitable donations as well.
The Leeds, Alabama native is an 11-time All-Star player who spent several years playing with the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets before his retirement in 2000.He also has two Olympic gold medals from when he played on the United States men’s national basketball team in the years 1992 and 1996. Over the course of his career, he also earned a spot on the NBA All-Star team 11 times and was the 1993 NBA MVP.
Barkley spoke in Cherry Hill at the end of last month to participate in this year’s Sixth Annual Sports Awards Dinner event that took place at the Katz JCC. It was a very memorable event for all, and next year is expected to have just as high attendance as well.
