Gary Payton Basketball CampNBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton will be holding his fourth annual Gary Payton Basketball Camp at the Viceroy Resort in Anguilla on July 5 – 12, 2014. The camp will kick off on July 5 with an island-wide concert headlined by the well-known rapper Ryan Leslie and be followed with a family night on July 6 that will feature appearances and conference sessions by Payton, Leslie, and a cast of celebrity players. The camp basketball activities will run from the 7th through the 12th.

The camp is free of cost for Anguilla youth residents, per registration. In addition, backpacks with school supplies will be made available for all campers through generous donations. There are a limited number of slots for the outside general public in available for registration in early May, with accommodations by Viceroy Anguilla. Rates for this option will be provided upon pre-registration.

Gary “The Glove” Payton played 17 years in the NBA from 1990 to 2007 and is best known for his 13 seasons of work with the Seattle SuperSonics. During his tenure in Seattle he set records in career points, assists and steals, all of which still stand to this day. During the latter years of his career he played with the Lakers, Celtics, and Miami Heat, capturing his lone NBA Championship with the Heat in 2006. With a resume that includes nine NBA All-Star selections, nine All-NBA selections, nine NBA All-Defensive First Team selections and being named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1996, Payton is considered one of the best all-around players to ever play in the NBA.
