NBA Star and USA Basketball Kyle Lowry hosted a free youth basketball clinic on August 27th in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a great day for all of the kids who showed up to participate, and many of them had an opportunity to meet with Lowry himself and get a few tips from the pro. Lowry stated that he loves to give back to the community and young children as much as he can, and thought that this clinic would be the perfect way to end the summer before everyone is back in school again.
The 2015 NBA All-Star was drafted in 2006 to the Memphis Grizzlies, but was then traded to the Houston Rockets in 2009 where he scored his all-time career high 36 points in a single game in 2011. In 2012 Lowry was sent to play for the Toronto Raptors and has since helped the team become the best it’s ever been in the franchise’s history. By the end of last year Kyle Lowry achieved the title of the Raptor’s all-time leader in triple-doubles with a 13 point, 10 assist, and 11 rebound game versus the Washington Wizards on November 7, 2014. As a result the basketball star earned the title of the NBA Eastern Conference Player of The Month for December 2014, which hasn’t been won by a Raptors player since Chris Bosh did in 2007.
The two-time NBA All-Star player traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania earlier this month to host a free basketball clinic for youth as a contribution towards giving back to the community. Hopefully, he will return again next year!
