New York Jets Quarterback, Tim Tebow, has continually been making his presence felt this off-season with the first notable headline being his trade to The House that Rex Ryan built, also known as The New York Jets.
His most recent headline is his recent Speaking Engagement in Bakersfield at the Kern County’s non-profit Hospice service where he helped raise over half a million dollars.
Tim Tebow’s impact was felt immediately as last year the fundraiser drew about 500 attendees and raised $160,000. Those numbers nearly tripled on Tuesday with 1,380 attending and nearly half a million dollars was raised.
Part of these funds included $81,500 through a live auction before and after Tebow spoke as well as a painting of Tebow that was done live on stage and then signed by the Jets Quarterback went for $32,000.The money raised will go to patient care and staff.
After the event, the representatives of the event let the media know Tim Tebow should receive a majority of the credit as he was able to rally a community behind a great cause.
Much of the community attended to not only meet Tim Tebow, but also to listen to his motivational words.
While at the event Tim Tebow told the crowd:
“The world looks at me as a football player who happens to be a Christian, but I look at myself as a Christian who happens to play football.”
“God can use something so small and turn it into something where we have no clue what’s going on or how big it can get.”
“It’s great to score touchdowns and have game-winning drives, but at the end of the day, that’s just a game,” Tebow said. “What Tom and Beth Hoffmann are doing, that’s having an impact.”
Tim Tebow has always been a great athlete to book for speaking engagements, autograph signings and corporate appearances.
