NFL legend Joe Theismann recently was named the keynote speaker for this year’s Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast that is taking place on April 12 and the Indian River County Fairgrounds. The event will be catered by Chick-fil-A and served at an outdoor pavilion so that attendees can enjoy some fresh air while getting to eat inside a large tent. According to the event organizer, John Bona, over 1,000 tickets were sold and he expects the rest of them to not last very long. Tickets to get into the breakfast are $30 per person and can be bought at the Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast website while they last. Theismann is expected to share stories from his exciting career, as well as discuss some of the more difficult times that he had to overcome with various losses and challenges. The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m., but the gates open a half an hour beforehand.
The Super Bowl XVII champion started building his reputation in football during his years in college playing for Notre Dame by leading his team to become a ranked team. In the 1971 NFL Draft, he was picked by the Miami Dolphins but chose to play for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League instead for the first two seasons of his career. By 1974 Theismann was back in the USA and went on to join the Washington Redskins for 11 years, and even led them to their first championship in four decades. After retiring from the sport he served as a color commentator on and off for big TV networks like ESPN and the NFL Network.
Theismann will be speaking at this year’s Vero Beach Prayer Breakfast later this spring in the first half of April and it is expected to be a sell-out event. For those who are hoping to attend, be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.
