Kurt WarnerNFL legend Kurt Warner took some time to share the story of his unique Hall of Fame journey with the audience at the Civic Center in Jackson this summer. He told the audience about how over the years he struggled with first being undrafted after college and then fighting his way to the Green Bay Packers’ roster in 1994. Ultimately, Warner was cut from the team and he spent some time stocking shelves at a grocery store in Iowa. It wasn’t until 1998 that he was given a second chance to play in the NFL for the St. Louis Rams, with whom he stayed with until 2003. After that, he did a brief stint with the New York Giants before ending his career with four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. After officially retiring in 2010, Warner became a broadcaster for the Iowa Barnstormers. It wasn’t until February 2017 that the Super Bowl XXXIV Champion was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Warner played some football in college but went undrafted after leaving school in 1994 and ended up stocking shelves in a grocery store. Since no NFL team was willing to give him a chance decided to try out for an AFL team and ended up really making a name for himself as a star performer. This caught the attention of the NFL and they invited him to try out for the Chicago Bears but ended up signing with the Rams in 1998 instead. The Super Bowl XXXIV champion and MVP also converted to Christianity during this transition of his life, which is one of the big reasons he is appealing to speak at this year’s Christian Day at the Ballpark.

Warner recently spoke to an audience at Jackson’s Civic Center to share the story of how he made it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was very humbling and touching for the crowd to hear about this journey, which included a lot of setbacks and moments of resilience.
