NFL star LaMarr Woodley was the keynote speaker for this year’s event hosted by The Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and Saginaw Promise organization to raise money for the youth in the surrounding area. The gathering took place in the Horizons Conference Center, and Woodley discussed the dedication it took for him to accomplish all of the things he did in his career and his personal life as well. The athlete also commented at how impressed he was by the Saginaw County kids and encouraged them to keep up the great work and sweat that they are putting into their goals.
The Saginaw, Michigan native was in the top 3 linebackers rated by Rivals.com during his high school years, and he ended up accepting an admission to play for the University of Michigan Spartans. He stayed with the team for three years until 2006, and entered in the 2007 NFL Draft where he was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Woodley stayed with the team for six years before doing a couple brief stints with the Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals. These days he is a free agent, but still loves anything to do with football.
Woodley recently went back to his home town of Saginaw to speak at a convention to raise funds for local youth that live in the county. It took place in the Horizons Conference Center and was a huge success.
