Australian track cyclist and Olympian Anna Meares has recently formed a partnership with Optus, one of Australia’s leading mobile phone and internet companies. She will be working alongside Jamaican running champion Usain Bolt to advertise with the company over the television, radio, digital and outdoor, print and even participate in a series of short documentary style videos that will show her cycling. The appeal of these videos is that every athlete in the world can find solace in relentless training, and they will get to be motivated by seeing what Meares does in her routine.
The Blackwater, Queensland native began cycling at the early age of 11 following the footsteps of her older sister, Kerrie Meares into the sport. The girls were inspired by watching their idol Kathy Watt during the 1994 Commonwealth Games and took it upon themselves to learn how to be some of the country’s best bikers. The three-time Olympian and gold medal winner is preparing herself for this summer’s names in Rio de Janeiro and is expected to make Aussies everywhere proud.
The cyclist has partnered up with Optus, one of Australia’s main mobile and internet services to promote the products over the next few months. Optus is excited to have Meares on board and feels that she is the perfect athlete for the job.
