Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor made a cameo appearance at the Association of Volleyball Professionals Championships that took place in Seattle on September 11th. Even though May-Treanor has been out of the pros for some time now, she went to the event to play with her friend Brittany Hochevar as a sign of support. The pair did really well despite the fact that May-Treanor is already out of her prime, but that just goes to show how much talent is a factor in an athlete. The fans cheered her on endlessly and she gives them credit for motivating her to play her very best, even if it just for fun.
The Los Angeles, California native has been recently named the most successful beach volleyball female athlete of all time as of 2012. She was always active in sports, but became particularly involved with beach volleyball during her college years at Long Beach State where she was on the 49ers team between the years of 1995-1999. During those years she also became nationally recognized by the NCAA and achieved many different awards and honors. Treanor is also a three-time Olympic gold medalist and helped team USA dominate the games at the 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing and 2012 London summer Olympics.
Treanor made an appearance at this year’s Association of Volleyball Professionals Championships that took place in Seattle in the beginning of September, and despite being retired she gave the audience a show to remember.
