The Barnes and Noble bookstore in West Des Moines, Iowa invites the public to meet Dominique Moceanu, the youngest member of the 1996 U.S. Women’s Olympic Gymnastics team, the first and only American women’s team to take gold at the Olympics, on Sunday, October 28, at 2 p.m.
At just 13 years old Moceanu became the youngest gymnast ever to win the senior all-around title at the U.S. National Championships and a year later went on to become part of the famous American women’s team.
In her new memoir, “Off Balance,” Moceanu writes candidly about her difficult childhood, her demanding father & coaches, and her own private battles in injuries & self-esteem. The now 31-year-old gives readers a rare look behind fleeting moments of perfect grace with the book said to “touch anyone who has ever dreamed of a better life.”
