In 2010 Curt Tomasevicz reached the pinnacle of the bobsledding world by helping his four man American bobsled team to a Gold Medal at the Vancouver Olympic Games. For the native Nebraskan, it was the culmination of a lifetime’s worth of hard work that led him and his teammates to the top of the Olympic podium.
This week, Tomasevicz talked about his bobsledding career and encouraged others to go after their own dreams at the 30th Annual Tourism Conference in Shelby Nebraska. Ultimately he hoped the audience walked away with a firm grasp on what it took for him to be successful and an understanding that in order for them to be successful they would have to take some risk and believe in themselves to the utmost.
He also talked about the state of Nebraska and the benefits of tourism not only in his home state, but in other states as well. He says every town, no matter how small has something great to offer. In the end it’s up to the people to take advantage of the opportunity to get outside and make memories that will last a lifetime.
“Events like this conference will inspire some ideas and get people involved and spread the word of how great our state is,” said Tomasevicz. “I do think west of Kearney, there are so many things to do and even people from Lincoln and Omaha have an opportunity to be a tourist in their own state as well.”
Tomasevicz is a two time Olympic medalist, having earned a Bronze Medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games in addition to the Gold Medal he earned in Vancouver in 2010. He is also a three-time World Champion and earned 9 additional medals in international bobsled competitions.
