Devon Harris SpeakerOriginal Jamaican Bobsled team member Devon Harris will deliver the commencement speech for WVU’s School of Medicine’s graduating class on Sunday. Harris was one of the founding members of the Jamaica national bobsled team, which first competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. Nicknamed “Pele” after the famous football star, Harris went on to compete in the 1992 Winter Olympics and the 1998 Winter Olympics.  He is the author of the children’s book, “Yes I Can:  The Story Of The Jamaican Bobsled Team.”

“Life is a journey of many twists and turns and you tend to go downhill pretty fast, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  It’s exciting, it’s exhilarating.  But when you get back to the top of the hill, it doesn’t mean that you have arrived,” says Harris.
