Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is scheduled to speak at this year’s StarNewsVarsity Awards Banquet that is happening on June 20 at the Wilmington Convention Center. At this celebratory event, the NFLer will help honor top high school athletes from over 21 different sports that are played in the Pender, Brunswick, and New Hanover counties in addition to other nearby locations. Kuechly will also be sharing his own story of success and talk about the different highs and lows he experienced in both his professional and personal career. The President and CEO of the function Ken Gill was thrilled to get the Panther to come and speak, as he will be an inspiration to everyone.
The Cincinnati, OH native started playing football during his teenage years at St. Xavier High School, where he had the position of linebacker and safety on the team. He ended up attending Boston College where he played for the Eagles football team for two years before entering the 2012 NFL Draft. Kuechly was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the first round as the ninth overall pick, with whom he is still playing for today. The four-time Pro Bowl champion has earned several college and professional awards and accomplishments, and even made an appearance at a Super Bowl already.
Kuechly was chosen to be the headline speaker for this year’s StarNewsVarsity Awards Banquet in the WIlmington Convention Center later on this summer, and there is no doubt that everyone will be happy to see him help celebrate with this year’s winners.
