University of Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer has been announced as the keynote speaker for the dinner fundraiser for the Holston United Methodist Home for Children that is taking place at 6 p.m. on October 20th at the First Farragut United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. Given that the coach has such a passion for helping out young people, this was the perfect event for him to speak at. Hopefully many of his fans and sports enthusiasts will assist in collecting plenty of cash to help out this amazing program.
The Tennessee native was also was a guard on the University of Tennessee football team in the late 1960’s through the early 1970’s. Once he was finished with his playing career, he immediately switched gears and became an assistant coach for 13 years before taking on the role as head coach in 1992. In 2008 he retired officially from his sports career to spend more time with his family and do quite a bit of motivational speaking. Fulmer made a comment that he has an overwhelming amount of opportunities to speak for various occasions, however it is hard to pick and choose the ones that he does.
