Sports fanatics have been in heaven with the 2012 Olympics and things got even better on Sunday NFL kicked off its preseason with the Hall of Fame game. The Arizona Cardinals took on the New Orleans Saints in historic Canton, Ohio to honor the newest class of Hall of Fame inductees: Curtis Martin, Cortez Kennedy, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Willie Roaf and Jack Butler.

The match up on Sunday isn’t anything to write home about, but for NFL fans this is the start of the gridiron wars they have long awaited for during this drama filled NFL off season. Many tuned in to get a glimpse of recently suspended New Orleans head coach Sean Payton. Fans also tuned in to see the Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in action as many of the players were suspended after the off season

Fans also got a glimpse of some new refs wearing the white and black as the regulars are locked out in a labor dispute with the NFL. The NFL has been training replacement officials for a couple of months to be ready for preseason games and the regular season, should the sides fail to reach an agreement. The league also used replacements for the opening weekend of the 2001 season, then reached a deal with the officials’ union.

This weekend proved to one for the books for NFL fans as they got see Drew Brees in action as well as see Curtis Martin, Cortez Kennedy, Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Willie Roaf and Jack Butler inducted into the Hall of Fame. These Hall of Famers will be high on the charts for appearances, autograph signings and charity events.
