Howie Long Speaking FeeOakland Raiders legend Howie Long and his wife Diane have announced that they are going to give back to the school that they feel gave them so much, Villanova University, with a $1 Million dollar commitment donation to the institution. The university is on a quest to raise $600 million dollars through a Comprehensive Capital Campaign to improve certain parts of the school, and thanks to the Longs’ funding they will be putting in a new weight room which is to be called “The Howie Long Strength Training Center”. The project is set to begin construction this month and it will be a new base for the Villanova football team as well as a top notch facility with equipment for all of the university’s athletic teams to use.

The Massachusetts native played football for Villanova University as one of the team’s best defensive ends, and was eventually selected by the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders during the 1981 NFL Draft. Long stayed with the California team throughout the entirety of his career until his retirement in 1993 with a Super Bowl ring and many other achievements under his belt. The eight-time Pro Bowl player became involved with acting after his football days and even landed roles in such movies as Firestorm, Broken Arrow, and 3000 Miles to Graceland. He joined the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the year 2000 and currently works as a studio analyst for the Fox Sports Network.

Long and his wife, Diane, made a very generous contribution to the Villanova University sports program by committing to give them school $1 Million dollars towards their campaign to make it a better place. Both Longs have felt that they wanted to give back to the place that got them started in the early parts of their life.
