Baltimore Ravens guard John Urschel has been announced as the commencement speaker for this year’s Penn State College of Science on May 7. The football player was honored and speechless to be selected as the speaker, but was very happy to do so. Urschel is one of the most respected players in the league right now, as he dedicates his time during the offseason to working on his Doctor of Philosophy degree at MIT. While he has no idea yet on what he will talk about, it is certain that this is going to be a very memorable speech for the newest alumni of Penn State.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native started playing football from a young age, but is is also known for being a math whiz in his spare time. Urschel has a Bachelors and Masters degree in mathematics from Penn State, and has even had a few of his peer-reviewed articles published.
