CEO of The Kraft Group and owner of the New England Patriots Robert Kraft recently delivered the keynote speech at the 85th Yeshiva University Commencement Ceremony in New York City at the Madison Square Garden. The talk took place on May 25th, and Kraft emphasized the importance of what it means to be humble and practice Jewish values to the student body. In addition to that, Kraft talked about how his own father was the very inspiration for many of his own moral foundations and was his role model to help him become the successful man that he is today. It was a very motivating speech and left the audience with a lot more to think about after hearing Kraft’s pearls of wisdom.
The Brookline, Massachusetts native grew up in a very Orthodox Jewish family setting as the son of a rabbi, which meant that he spent a lot of his time at Hebrew school instead of participating in school sports. However, He ended up attending and graduating from Columbia University for his bachelors’, and then received his MBA degree from Harvard Business School. By 1974 Kraft and five other associates purchased their first sports team, the Boston Lobsters, which eventually evolved into him purchasing and owning other teams such as the New England Patriots.
