Former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has been spending some time overseas in Africa with some of his fellow football players, and some footage has recently surfaced of them hosting a football camp in Egypt in partnership with American Football Without Barriers. It seems that the guys are having a great time abroad, as other photos of them riding camels and looking at the Great Pyramids of Giza were also on the internet. The football players, Lynch and 9 others, were able to draw in more than 400 individuals to participate in the program. Lynch can be heard telling the group of Egyptian athletes that they all showed great teamwork and that’s a very important thing in the sport of football.
The Oakland, California native was a four sport athletic star during his high school years as he participated in football, track and field, baseball, and wrestling. Lynch ended up attending the University of California in Berkeley where he played for the Golden Bears in football. He entered the 2007 NFL Draft where he was selected as the 12th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills and stayed with the team for three seasons before going to play for Seattle, which is where his popularity skyrocketed in the last five years or so. Lynch was popular with his fans for his “Beast Mode” style of playing on the field, however, the sad news of his retirement broke out in early 2016.
Lynch and nine other NFL players hit the sands of Egypt earlier this month to host a football camp in Egypt, where they got over 400 participants. It was a great learning experience for the locals and was a part of the American Football Without Barriers program.
