Serge IbakaOklahoma City Thunder power forward Serge Ibaka just finished up a grueling NBA season, but he continues to give back to the Oklahoma City community during the offseason. Just days after the Thunder’s season ended with a tough Game 6 loss the the San Antonio Spurs, Ibaka was back on the basketball court, ball in hand, going through drills at the Thunder Youth Basketball junior camp at the Thunder Events Center in Edmond, Oklahoma.

During his appearance at the camp Ibaka hung out with the campers, ages 5-9, and ran through shooting, passing and dribbling drills. He even took part in a game, a dribble-tag contest, and visited each station to ensure each camper had an opportunity to interact with him one on one.

“I’m just hanging out with the kids, playing little games, having fun and making them smile,” said Ibaka. “It’s always good when you have an opportunity to come here and spend time with them.”

Serge Ibaka is a native of Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo and came to the United States to join the Seattle Supersonics in 2008 after becoming a first round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. In addition to being a three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection he is also an Olympic Silver Medalist, earning his medal as a member of the Spain national team in the 2012 London Olympics. Ibaka is not just a defensive force in the paint, he is also an amazing role model and the pride of his home country.
