United States National Women’s Team player Mia Hamm was the keynote speaker for this year’s Peak Vista’s Breakfast of Champions that happened on November 8-9 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She spoke to a crowd of nearly 700 folks who were there to hear what she had to share, and to help raise $255,000 for the community health centers. Hamm made a point to talk to parents during her speech and point out that no one likes to get the blame for something, so she emphasized not to make excuses for their children’s athletic abilities. It turned out to be a very profitable charity event and lots of money was raised for a good cause.
The former professional soccer player was on the United States National Women’s Team from 1987 through 2004 where she played in four World Cup and three Olympic soccer tournaments. In the history of soccer, Hamm was the third most capped female player as they played in 275 international matches. In addition to that, the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year has the national team assists record at 144, and she was inducted into the four historical sports societies: National Soccer Hall of Fame, Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, the World Football Hall of Fame and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
