Boris Diaw AppearanceSan Antonio Spurs forward Boris Diaw made an appearance at the Shops at La Cantera Barnes & Noble bookstore on December 19 in San Antonio, Texas. He was there for his first ever book signing promote to introduce fans and readers to his piece “Hoops to Hippos: True Stories of a Basketball Star on a Safari”. This book was published by the National Geographic magazine and is Diaw’s narrative of his trip to Africa and includes photos and tales of his journey interacting with the wildlife he found. Even though it was written towards a younger age group, it is interesting and enjoyable for people of all ages. Tickets to the event were free as long as the attendees purchased a copy of the book, but there was such a huge turn out that people started buying them a few days early to reserve their spot.

The Cormeilles-en-Parisis native played for a French basketball club in Pau from 2001 to 2003, and then was selected in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks as the 21st overall pick. After just two years with the team he was traded to the Phoenix Suns with whom he played for for three years before going to the Charlotte Bobcats for four years. After that he did a brief amount of time on a French team, and then returned to the NBA to play with the San Antonio Spurs in 2012 where he still is today. In the summer of 2015, Diaw was a part of a team that went down to Africa to take part in an exhibition game which is where he got the opportunity to go on a real Safari.

Diaw showed up at the Barnes & Noble in San Antonio earlier this month to sign copies of a book he wrote that was published by the National Geographic company. Many people showed up to see the star and get a copy of his first-ever published writing works.
