Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel is about as manly as a man can get. When he takes the field, he is a bruising, 6-foot-5, 285 pound, bearded defensive crusher that quarterbacks and opposing offensive lineman fear down to their bones. However, when he steps off the field, he is far from what he appears. He’s a giving and compassionate man, who enjoys helping those less fortunate than him.
On June 5, 2014 he showed us this softer side when he took several patients from Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh on a fishing trip. He and the kids enjoyed a fun day in the sunny outdoors, fishing, eating a picnic lunch, and just hanging out. At one point he even helped one of the kids, Marty, hook a fish and reel it in. It was a heartwarming moment, and a memory none of those kids will ever forget.
Keisel is a staple in Pittsburgh. After making his debut as a 7th round pick out of Brigham Young University in 2002 he established himself as a franchise player. Over the course of 12 seasons he has helped lead the Steelers to two Super Bowl Championships and three AFC Championships while also earning a Pro Bowl appearance in 2010.
