The Los Angeles Angels’ outfielder Mike Trout just became the youngest American League Rookie of the Year at just 21 years old. He received all 28 first-place votes from the from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s AL panel and was only the eighth unanimous AL pick in baseball history.
Trout hit .326 with 30 homers and 83 RBIs in 2012.
In the National League, it was the Washington Nationals’ outfielder, 20-year-old Bryce Harper, who was voted the second-youngest Rookie of the Year winner to take the NL honor. In his Major League debut he had a batting average of .270 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs.
