Jimmy Walker SpeakerAmerican golfer Jimmy Walker, who has already won three times on the PGA Tour this year, has signed a sponsorship deal with telescope maker Celestron. As a part of the deal Celestron will provide Walker, who is a keen astrophotographer, with observatory-grade astronomical equipment to ‘enable him to create even more beautiful images of the universe’s most captivating objects.’

“As a kid, I remember having a telescope and looking at the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter,” Walker said. “My fascination started with looking up. From there, It evolved to attaching a camera and taking long exposures.”

The company said in a statement that the telescope will be placed at a remote location and that walker will be able to access and control it via the internet. ‘The telescope then relays the raw images back to Walker, who applies his artistic touch in post-processing,’ the statement said. Celestron and Walker will begin their new partnership at this week’s Northern Trust Open in California, where fans will be able to spend ‘an evening under the stars’ with Walker.

After a successful run on the Nationwide Tour early in his career the 35 year old Walker earned his PGA Tour card in 2005. In late 2013 he hit his stride by winning at the Frys.com Open and carried the momentum into this year with early wins at the the Sony Open in Hawaii and AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in California. It seems as though Celestron has landed one of golf’s brightest rising stars, and have given him the ability to show the fans what a true star looks like.
