Two-time Olympic medalist and professional skier Lindsey Vonn spoke at Southington High School to student athletes on October 3rd. In addition to giving them a motivational talk, she used examples from her new book titled “Strong is the New Beautiful: Embrace Your Natural Beauty, Eat Clean and Harness Your Power” to inspire the teens into getting in shape physically, mentally, and academically. Given that this particular school has been working hard to promote nutrition and balance in their city, Vonn’s appearance and speech will fall right in line with their goals.
The four-time World Cup champion for skiing is one of only six women to win all five alpine skiing events. Vonn is on the United States Ski Team and participated in the 2010 Winter Olympics where she won a gold medal in Downhill skiing and a Bronze medal in Super-G at just 17 years old. In addition to that she won two World Championship gold medals and four World Cup titles, which means she is one of the most prestigious American ski racers on the planet.
Vonn recently spoke at Southington High School earlier this month to talk to student athletes about taking care of themselves and living well, as this is the new “beautiful” she says.
