Former NFL Player and Coach Bill Curry was the guest speaker at the meeting of the Gulf Coast Athletic Club on Monday, August 29 at the Craft Farms clubhouse in Gulf Shores. Tickets to get into the event costed $30, and before the program started at 7 p.m. dinner was served to all the guests. Curry was well received by everyone who attended the event and there is no doubt that the GCAC were pleased to have him on board at their venue.
The College Park, Georgia native played football for two years while he attended Georgia Tech, and then was drafted by the Green Bay Packers during his second year at the school. Curry played for the Packers from 1965 through 1966 before switching teams and playing for the Baltimore Colts for five years until 1972. He did two brief stints with the Houston Oilers and the Los Angeles Rams before starting a new path as a coach, and ended up working with several teams that he interacted with in the past. The 1989 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award winner lastly coached for Georgia State before retiring in 2012 from the football field.
Earlier this month Curry was at the Gulf Coast Athletic Club to give a speech for their latest meeting and dinner function, which turned out to be a very profitable experience for everyone who attended and participated in it.
