Tyreke Evans AppearanceNew Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Tyreke Evans took advantage of the NBA All-Star weekend in New Orleans by holding an All-Star Basketball ProCamp for boys and girls from 1st to 12th grade. The three hour camp, held on February 16, was held at Tulane University’s Reily Center and offered both fun and instruction.

During the morning camp kids learned from and interacted with Evans while participating in various stations, specializing in fundamental skills of basketball. Campers also participated in games and skills contests with the opportunity to win unique NBA prizes.

Prior to the conclusion of the event Evans gave several talks to campers highlighting the finer points of the game of basketball and beyond. Parents and guests were also there to listen to camp guests in designated areas at each station. What made the campers day however, was the opportunity to hang out with an NBA star. Before all the participants left they got together for an exclusive camp team photo, had an opportunity to get an authentic autograph, and left with a limited edition Tyreke Evans All-Star Basketball ProCamp T-Shirt.

Evans was the 4th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2009 NBA Draft. In 2010 he made a splash in the league, earning NBA Rookie of the Year honors while averaging 20.1 points per game. Since then he has remained one of the most consistent players in the league. In 2013 the Pelicans landed Evans in an off-season trade. So far this season Evans has remained the model of consistency that he has been his entire career.
