Retired UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes has been announced as the keynote speaker for this year’s Sarah Bush Lincoln’s Men’s only “Take Down Heart Disease” event that is happening on February 23 in Charleston, South Carolina. The timing of the function will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free of charge to all local men who are interested in learning the importance of staying in shape to live a longer and healthier life. There will also be a number of professionals that are experts on different topics that range for Heart to Heart screening, sleep disorders, diabetes, fitness, tobacco and weight management that might be able to offer advice to the attendees on how to better their life. Even though there is no cost to attend this event, men who are at least 21 years of age must register to save their seat by February 16.
The Hillsboro, Illinois native grew up playing both football and wrestling, and was raided with a twin brother and sister at home too. After high school he ended up attending Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL, Lincoln College in Lincoln, IL, and also Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL.He spent 15 years active as a NCAA Division I Wrestler and had an impressive record of 45 wins in over a total of 54 different fights, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in May of 2010. A couple other of his many achievements include being a two-time UFC Welterweight Champion and he is also known for having the second most fight wins in UFC history with a total of 18.
Hughes will be the speaker for this year’s upcoming Sarah Buch Lincoln’s men’s only “Take Down Heart Disease” event that is happening in Charleston at the end of next month. This two hour event is of no charge, but requires participants to be at least 21 years of age and male, as there will be free alcoholic beverages on site.
