Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer took some time on last month to promote his new book “Above the Line” in New York. This isn’t a usual thing for Meyer to do as he has a completely busy schedule, so it was nice that he was able to interact with the public and be there as some of his fans purchased his book. Meyer also hosted three book signings in Columbus, Ohio last week on October 27, 28, and 29, and it was great that he was able to do that in the state where his face is likely most recognized. The events were all a success, and now the coach can get back to what he does best: managing his football team.
The Toledo, Ohio native was a star athlete in high school as he excelled at both football and baseball at the same time. He was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 1982 MLB Draft where he played two seasons playing on their minor league team while also playing the defensive back position for the University of Cincinatti’s football team. After graduating he went on to get his master’s degree from Ohio State in sports administration and began his coaching career in 1986 at that university. Between 1988 and 2012, Meyer coached at other universities such as the University of Illinois, Colorado State University, Notre Dame, Bowling Green, Utah, and Florida before taking the position he has now back at his old stomping grounds OSU.
Mayer took the time from out of his busy schedule at the end of last month to promote his new book “Above the Line” in the New York and Ohio area, and fans will be delighted to read about his life and experiences in the sports world.
