Soccer star for the United States Women’s National Team Carli Lloyd won the Golden Ball Trophy on July 5th after the conclusion of the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada. She scored six goals in the overall tournament including a hat trick in the final game, which was incredibly made in under 16 minutes from kick off. The most memorable shot that Lloyd had was one in which she scored the fourth goal for the team from almost the half yard line, and this not only stunned the crowd but the Japanese national team as well. Overall she had an amazing performance throughout the World Cup and has helped Team USA write history by making this their third title win, which is more than any other country.
The New Jersey native started playing soccer at the young age of 5, and continued playing throughout high school and college where she was recognized for her fabulous ball handling. Currently she plays on the Houston Dash, but she has also spent some time on the Western New York Flash, Atlanta Beat, Sky Blue FC, Chicago Red Stars and the New Jersey Wildcats. Lloyd has been a part of the national team since 2005 and is going to be a name to remember for years to come.
Lloyd was the winner of this year’s 2015 World Cup Golden Ball award and no one can tell her that she didn’t earn it. With three goals in the final match of the tournament, she managed to impress even her biggest competitors on the field. It will be great to see her again in the next World Cup four years from now.
