WWE Superstar and Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan will be giving the keynote address at the East Montgomery County Improvement District’s annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner on Monday, February 22nd at 7 p.m. This event will recognize the outstanding achievements of the area’s finest officers from the cities of Patton Village, Roman Forest, Splendora, and Woodbranch, Lone Star College, New Caney ISD, Splendora ISD, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Constable’s Office and the Department of Public Safety. The event will be held at the EMCID Complex, 21575 U.S. Highway 59 North in New Caney, at 7 p.m.

The Glens Falls, New York native, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan isn’t new to appreciating the hard work of Law Enforcement. His father was the Chief of Police for the city of Glens Falls. He first became a star athlete in high school. He was a letterman in football, track, wrestling, and basketball. After graduation he played football for Southern Methodist University (SMU). He became team captain while he earned his Bachelor’s degree in applied plant biology. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons after college but was released after being plagued by knee injuries. Duggan’s first match was in 1979 and marked his transition into the world of professional wrestling. He is best known for his time with World Wrestling Entertainment in the 1980s, when it was known as World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).In the WWF, Duggan was the winner of the first-ever Royal Rumble match in 1988 and in WCW, he was a one time United States Heavyweight Champion and one time (and the final) World Television Champion. His best known character is that of an American patriot, which sees him utilize a 2×4 as a weapon, the battle cry “Hooo!” and the U-S-A! cheer.
Duggan is a survivor of kidney cancer, an illness he was diagnosed with during his time with WCW. Duggan has claimed to have wrestled in all 50 States in America as well as in the countries/territories of Australia, Austria, the Bahamas, Belgium, Bermuda, Canada, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, England, France, Germany, Guam, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, and Wales.
