Award-winning French actress ?lodie Bouchez was born on April 5, 1973 in Seine-Saint-Denis, ?le-de-France, France. After taking up theater studies at the University of Paris, she began acting in 1990, primarily appearing in projects on French cinemas and television sets. She came to prominence when she starred in the film Les Roseaux sauvages (Wild Reeds), which revolves around a m?nage ? trois during the Algerian War. Her performance led to her winning the C?sar Award in 1995 for Most Promising Young Actress. In 1998, she starred in another French film, La Vie r?v?e des anges (The Dreamlife of Angels), which earned her another C?sar Award, this time for Best Actress, in 1999. She also won Best Actress honors from the Cannes Film Festival in 1998.
Upon the beginning of the new millennium, Bouchez slowly broke into the American scene, participating in occasional English projects while still working for several French ones. It was only in 2005 when she gained recognition among American audiences, when she joined the cast of the hit series Alias. She played the role of Ren?e Rienne, an unofficially APO ally who is responsible for numerous crimes, thus giving her a slot on the CIA’s most wanted list. She also spent her run in the show plotting revenge against Prophet Five, which betrayed her father.
When Alias ended its run in 2006, she then starred in the cable drama The L Word. She appeared in two episodes of the show, playing the role of Claude Mondrian, a French writer who meets Jenny Schecter (Mia Kirshner) during a trip to Canada. She also continued appearing in several French projects. She is married to fellow French Thomas Bangalter, better known as one-half of the popular French house music duo Daft Punk; they live with their children in Beverly Hills, California.
