Mesnick is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Washington at the age of eight. He received his BA in psychology at the University of Washington, and now resides in the Seattle suburb of Kirkland.

Melissa was brought out, he broke up with her, and she returned the engagement ring. Molly was then brought out, he asked for another chance with her, and she accepted.”

He told Jimmy that the chemistry was different between him and Melissa. Jimmy asked Jason why he proposed marriage to Melissa and Jason replied that Melissa was exactly what he wanted at the time, but he did not want to lead Melissa on. Days after his ex, Melissa Rycroft announced her engagement to Tye Strickland, Molly and Jason stated publicly that they will certainly get married one day. On the night of October 20, 2009, while vacationing in New Zealand, Jason asked Molly to marry him and she accepted.
