Doug McDermott Biography
Doug McDermott led the BlueJays to the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and a 27-8 overall record, averaging 26.7 points per game to go along with 7 rebounds a game. As a senior and one of the nation's premiere scorers, McDermott's leadership and character made him a standout among his competitors and no doubt contributed to his of the Wooden Award.
The North Dakota native is the son of basketball coach Greg McDermott, and after his father switched job locations is when Doug decided on playing for Creighton University. Doug McDermott was an active member of the team until the end of the school year in 2014 when he entered the year’s NBA Draft and was selected as the 11th overall pick by the Denver Nuggets. Just under a month later he was traded to the Chicago Bulls where he still plays today. The 2014 Big East Player of the Year was also selected to be on the United States National Team, so he will be representing his country in next year’s 2016 Olympics.
