Ryne Sandberg Biography
Known as Ryno to many, Ryne Sandberg was born September 18, 1959 and is a former Major League Baseball second baseman. He played major-league baseball for sixteen years (1981-1994 and 1996-97) and spent nearly his entire career with the Chicago Cubs. He was named for relief pitcher Ryne Duren, and is recognized as one of the best second basemen in baseball history. Sandberg established himself as a perennial All-Star and Gold Glove candidate, making 10 consecutive All-Star appearances and winning nine consecutive Gold Gloves from 1983 to 1991.
