Scott Erickson was born February 2, 1968 and is a formerMajor League Baseball pitcher.

Erickson was born in Long Beach, California, and began his professional career,after being drafted by the NY Mets in 1986, Houston Astros in 1987, and TorontoBlue Jays in 1988, in 1989 when he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the4th round of the amateur draft. After 27 minor league starts, Erickson rose tothe major leagues in his second season of professional baseball in 1990 directfrom Class AA Orlando Sun Rays, a season in which he finished with a record of8-4. After posting a record of 12-2 with a 1.39 ERA in the first half of the1991 season, including being awarded the American League Pitcher of the Monthaward for May, Erickson won 20 games in his first full season and finishedsecond to Roger Clemens in the American League Cy Young Award. During theMinnesota Twins 1991, World Series winning season, Erickson led the majors inwins with a record of 20-8. After giving up the most hits in the Major Leaguesin 1993, he became the third Twins pitcher to throw a no-hitter on April 27,1994, against the Milwaukee Brewers. It was the first no-hitter in theMetrodome. 

Erickson remained with the Twins until 1995 when he wastraded to the Baltimore Orioles, earning a peak annual salary of $6,620,921. Helater signed a five-year, $32-million contract with Baltimore through 2003. Atthe end of his contract, he joined the New York Mets and then was traded to theTexas Rangers in 2004.

He was in the starting rotation for the Los Angeles Dodgersin 2005. Erickson signed a deal with the New York Yankees on February 16, 2006.Erickson was released by the Yankees on June 19 and retired from baseball atthe beginning of the 2007 season.

Scott Erickson was a groundball pitcher, leading the leaguefive times in most double plays, and is in the Top 5 alltime in groundball toflyout ratio.[citation needed] Erickson was highly involved in sports evenduring high school; while he attended Homestead High School in Cupertino,California he played third base, soccer and football. After completing hissecondary education, he graduated from San Jose City College in 1988 and thenmajored in accounting at the University of Arizona. Scott was inducted into theArizona Wildcat Hall of Fame after just one year of pitching at theuniversity. Erickson set a school record for wins with an 18-3record, as he led the country in wins, innings pitched, and complete games(14).Those impressive numbers earned him a unanimous First Team All-American honor.His teammates at Arizona included Trevor Hoffman, Kevin Long, and J. T. Snow.

In July 2002 Erickson was charged with second-degree assaultafter a fight with his girlfriend, but the charges were dropped before the casereached court. On February 3, 2004, Erickson married television reporter andmodel Lisa Guerrero.

Erickson started a production company called "HomeTeamProductions". Erickson was an executive producer for the movie A Plumm Summerwhich came out to theaters on April 25, 2008.
