Booking Chicago White Sox Player Appearances
Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox are members of the American League Central division and based in Chicago, Illinois, calling U.S. Cellular Field, formerly Comiskey Park, home. The team was established in 1894, originally called the Chicago White Stockings but was soon shortened to the Sox.
In the first part of the 20th century, the Sox had many winning seasons but decades of losses followed. The 1959 White Sox won the American League pennant for the first time in 40 years with players like Cy Young Award winner Early Wynn, American League MVP second baseman Nellie Fox and shortstop Luis Aparicio. 24 years later in 1983, the team won their division with left fielder and American League Rookie of the Year, Ron Kittle, Tony LaRussa as the AL Manager of the Year and Cy Young Award winner LaMarr Hoyt. It wasn’t until 2005 that they finally won the World Series after an 88 year drought. The team was managed by Ozzie Guillen with players like shortstop Juan Uribe, first baseman Paul Konerko, third baseman Pablo Ozuna and pitcher Freddy Garcia. Today, the Chicago team is managed by Robin Ventura and led by pitcher Philip Humber, Paul Konerko and catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
