Booking Oklahoma City Thunder Player Appearances
The Oklahoma City Thunder has only been in the league since 2008 when Clay Bennett moved the team from Seattle where they were known as the SuperSonics and had an illustrious career in the NBA. The SuperSonics joined the NBA in 1967 and had twenty two playoff showings in the forty one years that they were in the league with one championship in 1979. All the Seattle SuperSonics history remains in Seattle including the name, colors and title even though the physical banners now belong the Thunder.
During the 1979 championship run, Gus Williams and Dennis Johnson who was the finals MVP led the team. As the Sonics progressed and time went on, new players came to take the place of the old. Some of these players included Gary Payton, Detlef Schrempf, Shawn Kemp and Nate McMillian held the team together for many playoff runs. They made it to the finals in 1996 but were unable to dethrone the then dynasty of the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls. In 2008, just before the announcement of the team’s moving, Kevin Durant was drafted by the Sonics and is considered the best player on the OKC Thunder team. The Thunder have made a couple of playoff showings, including 2012, where they made it to the finals only to lose to the Miami Heat.
Many of the old Seattle SuperSonics and some of the newer OKC Thunder players are available for keynote speaking and can be booked for other events as well.
