The event will take place at the Amber Room Colonnade in town and the annual Michael Seri Award in honor of the late Michael Seri will also be awarded at this time. The Tampa, Florida native was drafted in 1982 in the first round by the New York Mets. After spending a season in the minors, he proved himself to be a star in the making and made his MLB debut just two years later in 1984. Gooden stayed with the Mets for 10 years before going to the Yankees for one year, and the Cleveland Indians for a season after that. The 4-time All-Star player finally made his last appearance on the pro field as a player in 2000 and officially retired in 2001 after being cut by the Yankees in spring training.
