Iverson played 10 seasons with the 76ers that in the middle of that run included an MVP and a NBA Finals appearance against the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2007, the 76ers dealt Iverson to the Nuggets after Iverson had averaged his highest scoring average of 28 points a game and second on their all-time scoring list. Iverson played with the Denver Nuggets for two seasons teaming with all-star Carmelo Anthony. In 2013, Iverson officially retired from basketball although he hadn’t played in a few years and later that year the 76ers would retire his number three. Iverson, often called “The Answer,” ended his career with 11 all-star appearances, an MVP, and his 26.7 scoring average ranks sixth all time. Although his playing days had numerous basketball heroics, something that most that grew up watching him will attest, Iverson was a culture icon as well. Iverson is the model of hero ball and played the game harder than most could even think about and that is why so many grew to love Iverson.
