Former NBA player Antonio Daniels traveled to New York earlier this summer to be the speaker for this year’s class of NBA players at the Syracuse University campus. The 3-day program took place over the weekend of June 2nd and was an event to offer the current NBA players a chance to experience broadcasting business through seminars and making presentations in front of TV cameras. During his speech, Daniels told the story of his personal experience from transitioning from the athletic side of playing basketball to the more business side of it, and he discussed his the various radio shows that he did after retiring in 2011. It was a very fun and informative experience for all of those who decided to attend.
The Ohio native got his career started by playing basketball for Bowling Green State University where he attended from 1993-1997. He entered the 1997 NBA draft and was selected in the first round as the fourth overall pick by the Vancouver Grizzlies with whom he played with for two years. Before his retirement from the NBA in 2011, Daniels had played with a number of other teams including the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Wizards, Seattle SuperSonics, New Orleans Hornets and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Daniels made the trip to Syracuse University in New York this summer to speak at this year’s 10th Annual Sportscaster U program for NBA players looking for a career after retirement from the court. It was both fun and motivating, which made it an exciting place to be this summer.
