NFL legend Archie Manning was the guest speaker for The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum C Spire Conerly Trophy nominees ceremony that happened on November 28. He took some time to connect with the audience, and share some amazing tales of his life and his sons’ adventurous lives in the NFL. In addition to that, Manning talked about what it meant to be a proud Mississippi native and how the great state has produced so many talented athletes.
The Drew, Mississippi native and two-time Pro Bowl football player is also the father of current NFL quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Peyton Manning, and current NFL quarterback for the New York Giants, Eli Manning. The Mississippi native played for the New Orleans Saints, Houston Oilers, and the Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 16 season career in the NFL, and was also named the Whizzer White NFL Man of the Year in 1977. Even though the New Orleans Saints never officially retired Manning’s #8 jersey, but it is understood that the number will never be reissued again.
Manning recently was the guest speaker for this year’s Mississippi Hall of Fame and Museum Banquet that happened at the end of last month, just after Thanksgiving. It was a lovely and memorable event for everyone, especially this year’s nominees.
