Toronto Blue Jays great Jesse Barfield was announced as the 36th Annual Athletes in Action Banquet keynote speaker which happened earlier this month on May 5th. The event was hosted by the Grace Bible Chapel, and many people came out to hear the baseball legend give his two cents on matters ranging from life, confidence, to meeting your obstacles head on and challenging yourself. Tickets to get in the event costed $30 per person, but the attendees who went would argue that it was money well spent. Barfield attended the event with his wife, who also shared and discussed different elements of their faith-based way of living.
The Joliet, illinois native was a great athlete in his youth, which eventually led him to being selected by the Blue Jays in the 1977 Amateur Draft. However, within just a few short years the two-time Golden Glove Award winner proved himself to the team management and earned a spot on the official pro roster. He made his very first MLB debut on September 3, 1981 and stayed in Toronto until 1989. Before his retirement in 1993, he also played with the New York Yankees and the Yomiuri Giants.
Barfield gave the keynote speech in Timmins for the 36th Annual Athletes in Action Banquet on May 5th. This was an event that was hosted by the Grace Bible Chapel and was a major success for the goers and for Barfield and his wife.
