Daniel-BryanIn 2012, 6-year old Conner Micalek met his favorite wrestler in the world, Daniel Bryan. The two connected after Conner’s family posted a video on YouTube expressing his longing to meet Bryan, and also describing Conner’s tough battle he was fighting with pediatric brain cancer. When Conner and Bryan met two years ago there was an instant bond formed between the two, and they stayed in touch over the course of the next two years.

Flash forward to WrestleMania 30 on April 6, 2014. With Conner in the audience, Bryan won a huge match and before going to anyone else to celebrate the win, he went to Conner. The two shared a special moment, with Daniel leaning over the barrier between the ring area and the audience and saying to him, “Conner you mean a lot to me. You give me a lot of strength. You helped me earn this. Please keep on fighting.”

Conner’s father said the moment was perfect. “Conner was elated,” his father said. “It was a perfect moment. I truly believe the whole experience extended Conner’s time with me. There’s not greater gif that I could get…and no way I could repay them for that.”

Three weeks after WrestleMania 30, Conner lost his battle with cancer and passed away. But the impact he had on so many can never be measured, especially the one he had on WWE superstar Daniel Bryan.

“Conner was special for a million reasons,” Daniel Bryan said. “His smile. He was so quick witted. He was nice to everybody but sometimes brutally honest. You couldn’t help but talk to him and instantly fall in love with him.”
