Brett Favre had a difficult time retiring from the NFL, officially retiring in March of 2008 and then changing his mind just a few months later, ultimately spending three more seasons in the NFL before truly calling an end to his 20-year career.

Last weekend, the legendary NFL quarterback reappeared on the football field, but this time it was as the offensive coordinator for a Mississippi high school team. In his debut, he helped take the Oak Grove Warriors to a 64-6 victory, and just like the old days, Favre was said to not be afraid to pull out all the stops either.

Official notes from his first game read, “The Warriors took just 44 seconds before reaching the end zone for the first time, and did so in a manner utterly befitting Favre’s legacy in the NFL: a deep bomb from quarterback Cameron Myers, who had lined up in the slot, to wide receiver Kelvin Winston, who trotted into the end zone for the first official Oak Grove points of the Brett Favre era.”

It may not be long before the NFL calls on Favre to return to the league to assist as a coach, but in the meantime, he’s sure to continue to make a positive difference for the Hattiesburg, Mississippi high school team. At a minimum, Favre can certainly have a positive effect in a number of capacities, including as an instructor at a Coaching Clinic or offering advice at a Football Camp or Fantasy Draft Party.
